Jongste ging in September twee dagen naar het Elfia event in Arcen en mocht logeren bij een vriendinnetje aan de andere kant van het land (de Veluwe).
A little while ago, I started a 'secret project' ; a canvas to be given away.
DD#3 went two days to the Elfia Event in Arcen en spent the nigths at a friends place on the other side of the country (eastern part of the Netherlands).
Omdat vriendinnetje uit een echt kunstenaarsgezin komt (kijk maar eens HIER naar het werk van papa) en omdat ze zelf minstens zo begaafd is én omdat ze mijn scrapwerk erg mooi vond, bedacht ik om als bedankje een canvas te maken.
Since this friend comes from a real artist family (you really should take a LOOK at her fathers art) ánd she herself is equally gifted, plús she really likes my scrabookpages, I thought it would be nice to send her a canvas as a 'thanks-for-having-me-over' gift.
De tweede dag ging ik zelf ook mee en daarom was ik in de gelegenheid om een leuke fotoreportage te maken. Deze foto leek het meest geschikt om op het canvas te gebruiken:
As I visited the second day of the event myself, I was able to do a nice photoshoot. This one in particular seemed the right pick for the job.
Omdat het nogal een frêle, elf-achtig meisje is, wilde ik de canvas graag een beetje in die sfeer houden.
Een beetje langs mijn neus weg kon ik haar vragen naar haar favoriete kleuren (groen, bruin, goud, eigenlijk alle aardetinten) en daar ging ik mee aan de slag.
Because this friend is a rather frail, elfish girl, I wanted the canvas to breathe that atmosphere. I casually asked her to name her favorite colors (green, brown, gold, all earth tones in fact) and so that was wat I worked with.
Er kwamen wat andere zaken tussendoor, wat deadlines die gehaald moesten worden, aardse zaken als uitstapjes en studentenwasjes enzovoorts. Plus dat ik niet helemaal tevreden was over de blaadjes/bloemen slinger, dus hij heeft even stof liggen vangen.
Maar na aanschaf van de goede kleur bloemetjes, rozebotteltjes en de oranje besjes kon ik hem van de week eindelijk wel naar mijn zin af krijgen.
Some other business came in the way, there were deadlines to make, some down-to-earth affairs to take care of (like days out and college-daughter laundry). That and the fact that I wasn't entirely happy with the stem with leaves and flowers, made the canvas collecting dust for some time.
But when I layed my hands on the right colored flowers, rose-hips and berries, I finally managed to finish it to my content.

omdat het een 3-D canvas is, kon ik de chipboard vormpjes en blaadjes op de rand laten doorlopen

Morgen gaat-ie als Sinterklaas-verrassings-cadeautje op reis, maar omdat ze de weg naar mijn blog niet kent (hoop ik!) kan ik hem hier wel vast veilig laten zien. Nu maar hopen dat zij hem ook mooi vindt....
Tomorrow it will travel with postal services to her, as a Saint Nicolas surprise gift. But since she doesn't know the way to my blog (I hope!), I can show it here today safely. I do hope she likes it....
